About
Castles of Britain is a curated record of castles, fortified houses, ruins, motte-and-bailey earthworks and documented castle sites across Britain. The collection currently holds 75 approved records — 25 in Kent and 10 in Buckinghamshire.
Every entry is added deliberately. The database is the authoritative source for what belongs in the collection: nothing is imported automatically from third-party listings, so unrelated attractions, businesses, private properties and miscategorised places stay out.
Sites that survive only as ruins or earthworks are shown as they are today, rather than as speculative reconstructions. Each depiction is an original artwork made for this collection.
Favourites and your country selection are stored on your own device and persist between visits. An interactive map view is planned as a strictly user-initiated feature — browsing castle imagery will never load mapping resources on its own.
