Privacy Notice

Last updated: 31 August 2026

This Privacy Notice explains how Castles of Britain, operated by Orbitalbiz, handles information when you use the application.

1. Visitor's Pass

Visitor's Pass does not require an account, name, email address or sign-in.

The application may create a random installation identifier on the device so that features such as Favorites and Visited can persist on that installation.

This identifier is not intended to identify the individual personally.

2. Castle Pass

Castle Pass does not use a traditional Castles of Britain customer account or password.

To manage paid access, the application maintains technical records associated with the Castle Pass entitlement and authorized device/session slots.

These may include:

  • random installation/session identifiers;
  • entitlement identifiers;
  • device/platform labels used to distinguish authorized slots;
  • timestamps such as activation and last use;
  • revocation/replacement status.

3. Castle Pass Recovery Key

The raw Castle Pass Recovery Key is not stored by Orbitalbiz in recoverable form.

The server stores only a cryptographically protected representation used to verify a Recovery Key presented by the customer.

4. Favorites and Visited

Favorites and Visited information may be stored on the user's installation/device.

For Visitor's Pass, these records are associated with the anonymous installation and are not automatically synchronized across devices.

Castle Pass functionality may associate relevant application state with an authorized Castle Pass installation/session where necessary to provide the service.

5. Payments

Castle Pass payments are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record.

Orbitalbiz does not receive or store the customer's full payment-card details.

Paddle may collect information such as:

  • purchaser name;
  • billing/contact information;
  • email address;
  • payment information;
  • transaction information;
  • tax/location information

as required to process the transaction, provide receipts, prevent fraud and comply with legal requirements.

Paddle processes this information under its own privacy notice and buyer terms.

6. Technical Information

The application and its service providers may process ordinary technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as:

  • browser/device type;
  • IP address;
  • request timestamps;
  • error/security information;
  • application session information.

We use this information for operation, security, fraud prevention and troubleshooting.

7. Maps and Third-Party Services

Features such as mapping may involve third-party services such as Google Maps.

Those providers may process technical or location-related information according to their own privacy policies.

If the application requests access to the user's current location, that information is used only for the location-related feature for which permission was granted.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

Castles of Britain may use cookies and browser/device storage necessary for:

  • Castle Pass session validation;
  • Member Test Access during development;
  • installation identifiers;
  • Favorites;
  • Visited status;
  • Recovery Key storage on an authorized installation;
  • essential application operation.

Where legally required, non-essential technologies should not be used without appropriate consent.

9. Data Sharing

Information may be shared with service providers only where necessary to operate the application, including providers for:

  • payments;
  • hosting/database infrastructure;
  • mapping;
  • email or support services where applicable;
  • security and technical operations.

We do not sell customer personal information to advertisers.

10. Retention

Technical and entitlement records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Castle Pass access, maintain security, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.

Records may be deleted or anonymized when no longer required.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information processed.

No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may provide rights relating to personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion or restriction.

Requests concerning information held directly by Orbitalbiz may be sent to support@orbitalbiz.com.

For payment information held by Paddle, customers may also need to contact Paddle directly.

13. Children

Castles of Britain is a general-interest historical/travel application and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through customer account registration.

14. Changes

This Privacy Notice may be updated to reflect changes to the service, technology or applicable law.

The current version and update date will always be displayed here.
