Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 August 2026

These Terms of Service govern use of the Castles of Britain website and application operated by Orbitalbiz.

By accessing or using Castles of Britain, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Castles of Britain is an informational and entertainment application providing information about castles and related historic sites in Britain, including descriptions, photographs, maps, location information and related features.

Information is provided for general informational purposes only. We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate but cannot guarantee that every description, location, opening condition, ownership detail or other item will always be complete or current.

Users should confirm current visiting information directly with the relevant castle, property owner or official visitor organisation before travelling.

2. Visitor's Pass

Visitor's Pass provides free restricted access to selected Castles of Britain content.

No purchase or account is required for Visitor's Pass.

The content and features available through Visitor's Pass may change from time to time.

3. Castle Pass

Castle Pass is a one-time purchase providing continuing full access to Castle Pass content and features, subject to these Terms.

Castle Pass is not a subscription and does not automatically expire after a fixed period.

One Castle Pass may be used on up to three active authorized device/session slots at the same time.

If all three slots are occupied, an existing slot must be replaced before another device can receive Castle Pass access.

4. Castle Pass Recovery Key

A Castle Pass purchaser receives a Recovery Key.

The customer is responsible for keeping this Recovery Key safe.

The Recovery Key is required to restore Castle Pass access on another device when an existing authorized installation is not available.

Orbitalbiz does not store the Recovery Key in recoverable form and cannot retrieve the original Recovery Key for the customer.

If the customer still has access to an authorized Castle Pass device, a replacement Recovery Key may be generated from that device. Generating a replacement Recovery Key invalidates the previous key but does not revoke existing authorized device slots.

If the customer loses both:

  • the Castle Pass Recovery Key; and
  • access to all authorized Castle Pass devices,

the existing Castle Pass cannot be restored and a new Castle Pass purchase will be required.

5. Castle Pass Is Not Admission to Castles

Castle Pass provides digital access within the Castles of Britain application only.

It does not provide:

  • admission to any real-world castle or attraction;
  • discounts at castles or visitor attractions;
  • priority entry;
  • membership of any castle, trust, heritage organisation or property;
  • any other real-world entitlement.

Admission charges, opening times and visiting conditions at real-world locations are controlled by the relevant property operators.

6. Purchases and Paddle

Purchases are processed by our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides customer service for payment-related inquiries and handles returns.

Paddle determines and displays the applicable transaction price, currency, taxes and available payment methods at checkout.

Castle Pass access is activated only after the purchase has been successfully verified.

7. Refunds

Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights that apply under applicable law.

8. Acceptable Use

Users must not:

  • attempt to bypass Castle Pass access controls;
  • interfere with application security;
  • misuse or probe private application services;
  • automate extraction of substantial parts of the castle database;
  • reproduce or redistribute protected application content except where legally permitted;
  • use the service for unlawful purposes.

9. Intellectual Property

The Castles of Britain application, its original text, design, organisation, software, branding and other original material are owned by or licensed to Orbitalbiz unless otherwise indicated.

Third-party photographs, maps, historical information and other materials remain subject to their respective ownership, licences and attribution requirements.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of third-party material to Orbitalbiz.

10. Maps and External Services

Some features may use third-party mapping, payment, hosting or other services.

Use of those services may also be subject to the relevant provider's terms and privacy practices.

11. Availability and Changes

We may update, improve, add, remove or reorganise application features and content.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

A continuing Castle Pass provides continuing access to the Castle Pass service while that service is offered, but does not guarantee that every individual feature, castle record or third-party service will remain unchanged indefinitely.

12. Limitation

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Castles of Britain is provided on an "as available" basis.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights where doing so would be unlawful.

13. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated when necessary to reflect changes to the service, law or commercial arrangements.

The current version will be published on this page with its effective date.
