Bletchingley Castle

A substantial Norman ringwork-and-bailey stronghold of the de Clare family. A later stone tower stood here before the castle was dismantled during the baronial conflict of 1264.

The surviving earthworks and ruins are on private land. Public rights of way pass below/near the site, including the Greensand Way, but they do not grant access to the castle remains.
The map loads only when you ask for it, and is removed when you close it.
